Pilgrims from Brazil in Coesfeld

Despite the extensive renovation work at Annenthal Convent, the local sisters made it possible for three smaller pilgrimage groups to visit this year.  During the pilgrimmage the sisters stayed at several locations: the guesthouse of Haus Emmaus, Annenthal Convent, and at Haus Julia.

The first group from Brazil arrived from Rome on April 22 and included Sr. M. Noemia, Sr. M. Idete, Sr. M. Marilene, and Sr. M. Valdina. They were accompanied by Sr. Lory Inez, a translator from Brazil who is currently residing at Casa Madre.

The 10-days program was full and varied. After a walk through Coesfeld to St. Lambert’s Church and the congregation’s  founding sites, the group traveled to Vechta and then to  the Emigration Museum in Bremerhaven.

During the meetings with the sisters at Annenthal Convent, there was great interest in the pilgrims’ personal stories and activities.

Other highlights include visits to Münster and Dülmen, the hometown of Father Elting. The trip also included a day excursion to Namur, Belgium, where Mother Julie relocated her community in 1809 after facing difficulties and conflicts in Amiens.

The pilgrimages were a great enrichment for both hosts and guests and offered an unforgetttable experience of worldwide sisterhood.
