In 1992 sisters from the Patna province in India answered the Holy Father’s call to send missionaries to Africa. They now minister in five locations in Tanzania (Arusha, Njiro, Shinyanga, Simanjiro and Singida). In 2002 the first African women interested in joining our community were accepted into the pre-novitiate in Njiro. There are now a number of young African sisters. Our first group of sisters made their final vows in 2012. As in India, the sisters see education in all forms (or on all levels) as the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
