Sister Mary Rita Geoppinger from the Covington Province has been substituting as English language teacher at the Motherhouse since mid-September and will be returning to Covington on November 13. Sister Maria Josefa Cramer, the usual language teacher, was needed in Germany to serve as one of the translators for the General Chapter.
Sister Mary Rita ministers as the mission integration person at Notre Dame Academy and the co-director of the Associate Program for the province. Sister ministered in Uganda for twelve years as the head teacher of Notre Dame Senior Secondary School while teaching English to the young ladies there.
While here in Rome, Sister was asked to also give a presentation on the Notre Dame Educational Principles for our SND1 Resource Center. Having been a participant in the Brazil Education Conference in 2007, Sister was happy to teach the ND Principles to the language students while being filmed. The presentation will soon be available in the SND1.org Resource Center.
The language students and the members of the Motherhouse community have enjoyed Sister Rita’s presence and will miss her enthusiastic spirit in the classroom and in the community.
