On Wednesday, May 29th, 2025, the Sisters in Busesa Community gathered for a Faith Sharing under the theme “The Generosity of Sister Maria Ignatia.” The ambiance for the gathering was beautifully prepared. A lighted candle was placed at the center to set a prayerful mood that reflected the virtue of generosity, so powerfully lived by Sister Maria Ignatia.

The session began with a hymn to the Holy Spirit, inviting divine presence and guidance. Sister Mary Getruda then introduced the theme, drawing deeply from the materials shared across the Congregation. She led the community in reflecting on the spirit of self-giving, which characterized Sister Maria Ignatia’s entire life and ministry, from her love for orphans to her support of the Superior General, her tireless service during the typhoid epidemic, and her influential role as Novice Mistress.

The sharing that followed was rich and heartfelt. Many expressed how deeply they were moved by Sister Maria Ignatia’s total self-donation, her joyful sacrifice, and her quiet but powerful leadership. Her words, “Put yourself entirely at the service of the Congregation,” resonated deeply.

One Sister remarked: “Her example reminds me that even the smallest acts of love, when done with generosity, can be a great witness. I feel called to be more present and open in my community and ministry.” Another shared: “I was touched by how Sister Ignatia responded with joy, even in suffering. Her life calls me to trust more in God’s grace and give without counting the cost.”

The community then reflected on how to carry forward the legacy of Sister Maria Ignatia’s generosity in today’s world. The Sisters expressed a shared desire to live more intentionally in service, especially to the most vulnerable.

After the prayer, the Sisters shared a joyful meal, lovingly prepared with inspiration from African community traditions. The menu included fried fish with gravy, beef stew, Matooke, rice, Ugali, and greens. The meal was filled with laughter, gratitude, and a renewed sense of communion. As they ate together, the Sisters expressed gratitude for the beautiful materials and reflections that brought them closer to the charism of their Foundress and to the heart of Sister Maria Ignatia.
