Lucia was the seventh of ten children born to Aloysio Klein and Maria Cecília Klein. She grew up in a loving family, where she learned the values that would become the foundation of her life: faith, community, hard work, responsibility, and dedication to others.
She entered the novitiate on February 11, 1958, in Passo Fundo, receiving the religious name Sister Maria Lourdélia. Two years later, on February 11, 1960, she made her religious profession, generously embracing the commitment to consecrated life and to her mission.
Within the Congregation, she was also joined by her sisters, Sister Ottília Maria, who passed away on May 26, 2016, and Sister Maria Hedwig, with whom she shared a special bond of sisterhood and a common commitment to consecrated life.
Endowed with dynamism, creativity, and an apostolic spirit, Sister Maria Lucia placed her gifts and knowledge at the service of the Church, the Congregation, and the communities she served. “Strive for the greater gifts” captures the essence of her journey, marked by a diverse education in accounting, a degree in Portuguese and English Languages and Literatures, German language studies, and biblical-theological studies. She put this knowledge at the service of her mission as a teacher and catechist, as coordinator of the Catechesis Department of the Diocese of Passo Fundo, and in her service to various communities.
Sister Maria Lucia also assumed responsibilities in leadership and administration, serving as provincial secretary and local superior. In each role, she brought her organizational skills, knowledge, creativity, and dedication to the service of the Congregation and its mission, always attentive to the needs and ready to meet challenges with courage and generosity.
Deeply committed to seeking the good and always ready to serve, Sister Maria Lucia lived her vocation with courage and a profound apostolic spirit. She also cherished a filial and passionate devotion to Our Lady. Her life remains a testimony of a consecrated woman who sought to respond to God’s call with faithfulness, love, and generous service to others.
May Mary, the good and tender Mother whom she loved so dearly, welcome her with open arms into heavenly glory.
