Sister Mary Kristin began the day with her opening address. Sister reminded us that our charism helps us to see with different eyes and assists us in making what is invisible to some visible so that they too can see God’s providence in all things. Addressing our theme, “Renew the face of the earth”, Sr. Mary Kristin stated, “To renew is not a passive activity….it takes boldness, the ability to risk and perseverance.” As we create a culture of encounter and caring, we listen to the pain and suffering of those around us and reach out with imaginative hope.
In the afternoon, Sr. Mary Kristin presented the Congregational statistics and the Congregational report. It is important to remember that the statistics were submitted in December 2021 and while there are some changes, they are helpful in reflecting trends. In the Congregational report, Sister outlined what the general government has done in the last six years to address the five themes of the 2016 Chapter. She then summarized the strengths and challenges of the Congregation as witnessed by the General Government during their visits to the units. The presentation concluded with four areas that Sister suggested the Chapter consider as we move into the future.
It is important to remember that the statistics were submitted in December 2021 and although they may not represent the current reality, they are helpful in reflecting trends.
