“I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me.” Phil 4:13
Adila Imig was the youngest of the ten children of Ricardo Imig and Idalina Engelmann Imig. The cause of death of her father is also hers: cardiac arrest.
She entered the Congregation as a Postulant on February 20, 1969. From the second year of the novitiate until about 1975, she ministered as a cook in several schools, hospitals, and seminars. In 1971, she began her studies in a supplementary teaching course, and from that time she didn’t stop studying. She is licensed in Practical Arts, Domestic Economy and specialized in Methodology Teaching. She studied Theology at the Institute of Theology of the Archdiocese in Passo Fundo.
Her zeal for spreading the Gospel message was visible during her long history of giving to others in her ministry as a teacher, especially at the coordination of catechesis, and pastoral work on the diocesan and parochial level.
She worked in the Diocese of Cruzeiro do Sul for 22 years, always in evangelization and catechesis, in prison pastoral, in the coordination of the theology course, in serving the poor people in neighborhoods. She always thought of the needs of others first; was always ready to serve and preach the message of Jesus.
She used the available communication media for her catechesis and evangelization, e.g. the diocesan radio channel. She did what St. Paul recommends to Thimoty: “proclaim the word: be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient: convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching.” ( 2 Tm 4:2 ) She loved the people and the people loved her.
On January 25, God had different plans for her. She was preparing for a spine surgery. But before this, the Lord of Life came and took her to the eternal home. Certainly, she was conscious of what is written in the Gospel: “Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” (Mt 25:13 )
