On Easter Tuesday, the Sisters at Kloster Marienhain in Vechta carried out another activity with the refugee center across the street. About 40 children and some adults who accompanied them were invited to search for Easter eggs on the premises around Kloster Marienhain. Mr. Schwarting, the warden of the center, and the maintenance man, who was able to translate all the announcements into Arabic, were also invited.

We met at the entrance of Marienhain and let the children look for the little Easter baskets hidden on the premises around the house while the adults were invited to search for hidden Easter eggs. In spite of a shower in between, everybody was enthusiastically involved in the search. Then we went into the Marienhain school where we enjoyed drinks and cookies. In the multipurpose hall, we played team games. Our guests especially loved the fire dance led by Sr. M. Birgit and “Topfschlagen” (a traditional game in which a blindfolded child, with the assistance of a wooden spoon and hints from other children, needs to find an upside down cooking pot on the ground that has some sweet treasures in it) prepared by Sr. M. Waltraud.

Again and again the children gathered for group photos.  The many happy faces were our greatest thank-you.
