We were blessed with a pleasant day in Rome on Sunday, February 19 to welcome 80 guests to our Motherhouse to meet our new General Government. The reception was held as an open-house format. Guests were invited to visit anytime between 3:00 and 5:30 to enjoy refreshments and visit with our general government and members of the Motherhouse community.
A catering company provided typical Italian refreshments – small sandwiches, miniature pizzas, small cookies, and pastries and beverages. Pink and white tulips decorated our dining room and community room tables.
It was a joy to welcome many sisters, priests, and brothers – some are classmates and instructors of our sisters students from the Angelicum, the Gregorianum, and the UISG Formators’ program. Others included our neighbors, the Gesu Bambino sisters, and some of our own Italian sisters from Via Aurelia.
Representatives and collaborators from SEDOS (Service of Study and Documentation on Global Missions) and Centro Astalli (headquarters of the Jesuit Refugee Service) welcomed the opportunity to meet more of our sisters and affirm their partnerships with us.
We were especially delighted to welcome the entire leadership team and other members of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Special guests included the USA Ambassador to the Vatican, Mr. Joseph Donnelly, and his wife, Jill; the Ugandan Ambassador to Rome, Ambassador Elizabeth Paula Napeyok, and a representative from the Indonesian Ambassador’s office. Our lay employees also enjoyed the afternoon with us.
It was evident that our guests and the sisters appreciated the time to visit, share news, and make connections.
