The month of June was filled with many activities in the Holy Spirit General Delegation. Among them was the perpetual profession of seven tertians and the first profession of two novices. Five of the tertians and the two novices returned to their country of origin and celebrated both the perpetual vows and first vows in Buseesa, Uganda, on June 15. These ceremonies always have strong witness value to the family, friends, former students, the people of the village, and especially to our students in both the primary and secondary school.
The former pastor is now the bishop of the Diocese of Hoima, Bishop Vincent Kirabo. It was fitting that he was the main celebrant for such an occasion. All those present witnessed the sisters as they prostrated during the Litany of the Saints and then received the bishop’s blessing. Rising, each pronounced her vows and then went to the altar to sign her testimonial before presenting it to the Sister Mary Roshini, the delegation superior.
A week later, on June 22, two of the tertians in this group celebrated their perpetual vows in Arusha, Tanzania, at our center in Njiro. The new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Arusha was so happy to be present for the occasion and felt at home among us. Parents, relatives, friends, some of our Associates, and members of our Syokimau St. Veronica Parish came for the occasion and joined in the celebration. The vowed commitment of these sisters and their theme, “Remain in My Love,” spoke volumes to all present.
