2016 General Chapter
The Chapter delegates met in the Chapter Room early on Friday morning, September 30, where Sister Mary Kristin gave the general orientation for the Chapter reviewing all materials in the delegates’ information packets. Sister Maria Anneliese shared important information about Kloster Annenthal and the use of the pool, Sister Maria Julindis provided important information about the Kolping Buildungstatte and Sister Maria Elke reviewed how the minutes would be shared.
At 11:00 a.m. all assembled at the new international house—Emmaus Community for the official dedication. The pastor of St. Lamberti Parish Rev. Johannes Arntz presided at the dedication. Sister Maria Almuth, the local superior of the soon-to-be-formed community was present for the dedication. The readings and prayers of the dedication prayer service centered around the Emmaus story from Luke’s Gospel. Each room was blessed along with the crosses which will hang in each room. While the rooms were being blessed the sisters assembled sang the Magnificat.
In the afternoon everyone walked to St. Lamberti Church where a practice was held for the Opening Mass to be held the next day.
Finally, in the evening Sister Victoria our Chapter facilitator addressed the Chapter and had us reflect on our dispositions as we enter into the Chapter. Sister asked us to reflect on our expectations as well as our fears and share these with our “discernment tables” as she referred to our table groups in the Chapter room.
