On Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, fourteen sisters met at the St. Francis Residence in Cleveland, Ohio for a planning session to help prepare for our SND USA National Gathering in July.
Sister Mary Karen Somerville, the community coordinator of the Greater Cleveland East Community, invited this group for a discussion on the future of SND USA. Discussions like these were being held in all areas of the province.
In keeping with our 175th anniversary, this was also a perfect time for sisters to pick up the anniversary items which they had ordered. These included tote bags, t-shirts, tablets, mugs and note cards. All were decorated with the 175th anniversary logo. Those that ordered note cards, which were made by sisters from various areas in our province, were also given bookmarks, containing flower seeds which could be planted.
After the meeting, the sisters gathered in the sunroom, which was set up like an Italian café. Red and white tablecloths, napkins and candles on glass holders covered the tables. Sister Michelle Marie Kelly prepared the meal, using the spaghetti al sugo di ragu recipe from our Italian sisters and the wild garlic bread recipe from our German sisters.
We enjoyed the opportunity to gather beyond our individual houses and celebrate the internationality of our congregation!
