For 25 years, MASHAL has been a beacon of hope and transformation. Founded by the Our Lady of Assumption Province, Patna, MASHAL, a registered non-governmental charitable society, began in 2000 as a humble initiative of the Sisters of Notre Dame to create space for women’s leadership and restore dignity to the most vulnerable. Mashal’s Silver Jubilee marks 25 years of commitment to the empowerment of women, children, and vulnerable communities. This initiative has evolved into a dynamic organisation, touching the lives of thousands across Bihar and beyond.
The Silver Jubilee came alive across its 4 Health Care and 9 Social Work Units through vibrant, heart-warming celebrations that brought together staff, Flexible Learning Centre (FLC) children, and RSTP (Residential Special Training Programme) learners. Each unit added its own unique spirit to the celebration, yet a shared message resonated everywhere- gratitude for the past, pride in the present, and hope for a more inclusive future.
The day began with joyful gatherings of community members, Sisters, project staff, women’s groups, parents, and children whose lives have been touched by MASHAL’s journey. FLC and RSTP children added colour and warmth through performances, songs celebrating education and inclusion, and short skits highlighting child rights, disability awareness, and social harmony. Their bright smiles symbolised exactly what MASHAL has been striving for over the past two decades- a world where every child learns, grows, and thrives.
