The highlight of our General Conference this week was sharing reports from the various units of the Congregation. Each unit’s report was informative and creative, leaving us hopeful and enthusiastic about our collective vision for General Chapter 2022. It’s clear that the guiding energy of the Holy Spirit is actively shaping our lives and, despite the challenges we face, our commitment remains unwavering.

Sr. Lynn Levo, CSJ, from the United States, shared her insights on “Taking a Selfie: Emotions and Accompaniment” and “Belonging and Psychological Safety.” Her words truly resonated with us as leaders, encouraging us to contemplate how to foster a culture of hospitality, belonging, and psychological safety for our sisters. It was an enlightening and thought-provoking session that inspired and empowered us to change our leadership approach positively.

On October 9, we celebrated the 75th anniversary of Notre Dame presence in India and the establishment of Sophia High School in Bangalore. The students of the school performed a wonderful dance drama depicting the inception of Notre Dame in India and its current status. Interacting with Sophia’s teachers and students was enriching and informative. Later that day, we visited St. Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar, Bangalore. It is one of the oldest churches in Bangalore and the first church in the state to be elevated to a minor basilica. The basilica is a renowned shrine of Our Lady of Good Health, attracting thousands of people for prayer and pilgrimage. We remembered all of you at this sacred shrine.

We had the opportunity to visit Somanahalli, a mission station where our community is making a positive impact through various ministries. During our visit, we were truly inspired by “Aloysia Mane” (Aloysia House), a heartwarming project run by the sisters. This initiative provides a loving home for eight girls from disadvantaged backgrounds where they receive nurturing care and education. The sisters’ dedication is truly remarkable, and it was a joy to see the girls’ enthusiasm as they captivated us with their delightful dances and songs. Every day of the conference continues to enrich our global sisterhood with meaningful experiences.
