On November 8, 2014 the Motherhouse community said an affectionate farewell to Sister Maria Kharita from the Pekalongan Province, Indonesia. Sister had been a member of the Motherhouse community since the General Chapter 2010. She came to Rome to be a translator for the Chapter and continued in this ministry for the past four years. In addition to her ministry of translation, Sister Kharita took courses in Spirituality at the Angelicum in Rome. Her experience during these years is the source of many delightful and inspirational stories. Sister Kharita shared with the Motherhouse community during her farewell celebration some of what her time in Rome meant to her. These years have been transformation for her in many ways. Her understanding of the universal Church and our congregation has been stretched. Personally, Sister believes that she has grown in age and wisdom having lived in our international community.
Sister Mary Kristin led a special blessing prayer the night before Sister Kharita’s departure. Sisters’ generosity in sharing of her talents and her cheerful presence will be missed. Sister will continue her translation ministry in her home province as well as the bonds of friendship she has made throughout this time. The Motherhouse community wishes Sister many blessings in her new work in the mission of Timor, Indonesia.
