Eager and well prepared, Sr M. Thiatilde Fölling celebrated her 100th birthday on October 26, 2024.

A journalist had interviewed Sr M. Thiatilde a few days beforehand, so that an interesting article together with her photo appeared in the newspaper on her birthday. In the article, the jubilarian said that music and trust in God had contributed to the fact that she had grown so old. Her keen interest in the congregation, current affairs and her passion for history certainly also played a role. As a retiree, Sr M. Thiatilde completed a training program as an archivist and then became responsible for the archives in Coesfeld for ten years. It was a matter close to her heart to preserve the history of our communities for the future.

On the morning of her birthday, the Kloster Annenthal house-community gathered in the cafeteria at 10:00 am. Mrs Hüppe, the coordinator, led the program. Everything was taken care of: the sisters toasted the jubilarian with sparkling wine and juice; a birthday serenade was sung; Sister received a rose tree as a gift from the senior center. After congratulations from Sr M. Paula Wessel, Provincial Superior, others joined in, including a representative of the mayor and some former employees. In addition to numerous bouquets of flowers, there was also a birthday cake.

The following day, Sr M. Thiatilde received a birthday serenade in our chapel from the music school in Vreden, which she had helped to found 60 years ago. Making music together into old age meant a lot to her.

We are grateful to God that we were able to celebrate this beautiful occasion with Sr M. Thiatilde.
