This year the sisters in Tegelen celebrated the jubilee feast on August 15, the Assumption of Mary.
We had three jubilarians: Sister M. Adelberta professed 70 years ago, Sister Anne Maria professed 65 years ago, and Sister M. Sylvia professed 60 years ago.
Since our circle of sisters is getting smaller and smaller, we have been inviting our co-workers, volunteers and acquaintances of the Jubilee Sisters for a few years now. Their participation added to the festive atmosphere.
The day began with a Eucharistic celebration with the Dean of Venlo, Deken Spee, our pastor. We had made beautiful booklets with songs so everyone could sing along.
The dean gave a good homily in which he pointed out that the question, “Where do you need me?” had been the thread that had given direction to the lives of the Jubilee Sisters.
After the service, we went to the refectory to congratulate our Sisters. The jubilarians were greeted with applause as they entered.
After a welcoming song and the recital of a poem, Sister M. Paula, our Provincial Superior, was given the floor. The date of each one’s profession was the starting point for the personal words she spoke for each jubilarian.
Afterwards, the visitors had the opportunity to congratulate the jubilarians. After the congratulations we had 45 minutes to prepare everything for lunch.
The cook took excellent care of everything and everyone enjoyed the feast to the fullest.
Around half past three the first guests left.
We can look back on a successful celebration, which we remember with pleasure.
