Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School in Chardon, Ohio, experienced the dedication of its newly renovated chapel with a liturgy and reception on October 1, 2016. Father James Caddy with Father Jim O’Donnell and Father Mark Hollis celebrated the Mass and blessed the chapel. When asked about the renovation, NDCL President Sister Jacquelyn Gusdane, SND, commented, “We now have a place of peace and prayer where students can experience God’s overwhelming desires and love for each of them, as God did for Mary. Annunciation Chapel also reflects the gratitude shared by our school community to the Sisters of Notre Dame and shares with them their patronal feast, the Annunciation.”

The stained-glass windows cast a spectacular prism of colors over the interior. The chapel has a hand-crafted altar, tabernacle, and new furniture. Another special feature is the lovely, hand-carved, linden wood statue of Mary.

Many Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin donors, students, families, teachers, administrators, and Sisters of Notre Dame attended the blessing.

One of the greatest blessings for NDCL has been the presence and service of Father James Caddy, NDCL chaplain since 2015. Father explained, “Our Annunciation Chapel is beautiful. As a chapel, it was formerly a functional prayer space, but now it has a serene and striking atmosphere. The contemporary decor provides a peaceful, prayerful environment for students and visitors of NDCL. The range of prayer experiences are expanded with the interplay of light and technology within the chapel. I feel the name is appropriate since the school is sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame, and Mary was a young girl, like those who attend NDCL, when the Annunciation occurred.”
