Sr. Loretta Pastva (Chardon), Sr. Patricia Marie Keefe and Sr. Mary Brenda Haynes (Toledo) begin their new adventure in the land of the big sky.
Some of the scenery we saw once we entered Texas on our way to Slaton: lots of brush, cacti, and red rocks- forming mini canyons.
Cattle ranching is big in Texas, so included is a Google shot of such an event. We saw lots of cotton fields on the way. We passed a field of sunflowers- a reminder of Notre Dame. We arrived in Slayton on Wednesday, July 16, only to find painters and other repairmen in the house finishing up their work, so we spent the next three nights in a motel, and worked on cleaning the house during the day around the repairmen. Other essentials like mattresses, refrigerator, etc. were missing. It was not until Saturday night that we stayed in our home for the first time. The Slayton community (including Sr. Diane Marie Pfahler and Sr. Mary Richarde Kaufman who went to help set up the house) with Monsignor Rendon and Sr. Ann. Sr. Ann is returning to her native Philippines. This is the entrance to St. Joseph Church. The Sisters ready to begin their new ministry in Slaton, Texas. Y’all come down and visit.
