A search for a new venture into the Dharmapuri diocese in Tamil Nadu began by November 2013 as our Mission in Vaniyakuy, Tamil Nadu was coming to a final discernment process of winding up our presence in Kottar Diocese. Sister Mary Sandhya and her council met with the Bishop of Dharmapuri, Most Rev. Lawrence Pius, to discuss with him the possibilities of purchasing property in the diocese. The Bishop was very cordial and welcoming. He guided the Sisters to some of the places to see the land first and to decide. After having a tireless striving in looking for a proper piece of land, the Sisters finally could buy a few acres of land on the main road of Pochampally in Dharmapuri. We thank God for all His blessings in abundance and His constant companionship on our discernment process.
July 6th, 2015 is a memorable day in the history of the Our Lady of Visitation Province, Bangalore as we branched out to the district of Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, a village called Pochampally. We had the blessing of a temporary house on this day by the Bishop of Dharmapuri diocese, Most Rev. Lawrence Pius. Sr. Mary Sandhya and few other Sisters from Bangalore Provincial House and Somanahalli community were present. There were also many other invited guests namely, Priests of the nearby parishes, Panchayat President and parishners and neighbours graced the occasion. It was indeed an auspicious day. Sr. Sandhya in her speech spoke about St. Julie, Sr. Aloysia who also reached out to people especially, the poor and the marginalized. We, the Sisters also have come to this place with that vision of our Spiritual Mother and Foundress to touch the lives of the poor through education and other promising ministries. The Bishop appreciated our service in serving the people and wished God’s blessings on our future endeavours in His diocese at Dharmapuri, Pochampalli. It was indeed a special day for us in our Province.
It is our deep faith in God to speculate into an unknown place to make Christ and His goodness Known to all. The construction is almost at the helm of start. We ask God to be with us as we journey to the Promised Land of opportunities.
