The Korean Church designated the year 2025 as the Year of Consecration under the theme ‘pilgrims of hope on the way toward peace.’ Many events were held to showcase the diversity of consecrated life and promote vocations. One of them was ‘Festival of the Religious’ on the Day of Prayer for Vocations, the fourth Easter Sunday, held alongside the preparation for World Youth Day 2027. NLorDY(Melody of the Lord, that is sung by SND), the music group of the Korean province, took part in this program. The NLorDY is a group of sisters who praise the Lord by singing, composing, producing music files, and proclaiming the Gospel through media. 18 members of the group performed during the festival.
To encourage and bring hope to young people who face several challenges, we sang two songs: ‘I am a firefly light’ and ‘Baba Yetu,’ the Lord’s prayer in Swahili.
Although it was not easy for 18 sisters to gather because each had a different ministry schedule, we practiced diligently with one heart and mind for young people. We felt truly happy united as one, while learning songs, memorizing them, and playing instruments including a keyboard, a djembe, hand cymbals, a rain maker, and a wind chime together. We were grateful for the support and love of many sisters. We were all connected to the sisters who generously offered us prayers, space for practice, and snacks.
On that day, many brothers and sisters from various congregations gave a great concert. Despite the diverse performances, they all aimed to express joy and hope in religious life. Perhaps we, the religious, experienced more joy and encouragement than the young spectators. Through confidence that we can do anything together and the sense of achievement, we could see that God guides everything himself.
NLorDY will continue to bring hope and God’s goodness to everyone as a tool of praise by singing together. The NLorDY’s performance can be seen at 1:17:30 toward the end of the link https://youtube.com/live/Q3Ln-AgBGnE?feature=share.
