On Saturday, March 29, 2025, on a blessed afternoon a group gathered for Lectio Divina with the sisters of Regina Pacis Province, South Korea: the junior sisters, the vocation promotion team (Sisters Natalia and Elfrida), Sr. Clarissa with the postulants in Salatiga, Sr. Imelda with the girls from the orphanage in Lasem, and interested young women from Our Lady of Good Counsel Province, Indonesia. The Zoom meeting included Sisters M. Vera and Maria Claret from South Korea and Sisters M. Germaine and Filipe from Vietnam.
The reflection reading from the Gospel of Luke 15:1-3, 11-32 united them all in a quiet atmosphere of prayer, in openness of heart to be guided by the Spirit, and in mutual sharing and listening with joy to one another.
One of the sisters shared her experience of God’s mercy through the parable of the Merciful Father. She reflected on how God always accepts his children with love as it is portrayed in the Gospel of Luke. For her, true mercy is not just a feeling but must be manifested in concrete actions toward others, especially in daily life as a religious sister.
In line with the previous reflection another sister was deeply moved by the words, “While the son was still far from seeing him, his father saw him and was moved with compassion.” She contemplated how God always welcomes His people with boundless love. Often people feel distant from God, but He is always present, even before we realize our mistakes.
Although it lasted only an hour, the time we spent together in Lectio Divina was deeply meaningful for all of us. It also strengthened the bonds of sisterhood and reaffirmed our calling as Sisters of Notre Dame. May this togetherness continue to inspire and strengthen each step of our spiritual journey.
