The Gospel for March 11th echoed a royal official’s request to Jesus on behalf of his sick son. The official believed Jesus´s words “Go, your son will live.” Sister Maria Zelinda also believed in Jesus’s words “Come and follow me” and dedicated her life to spreading the Kingdom of God.
Zelinda was the fourth child of nine, born to Achiles Girelli and Maria Riboldi, both of whom were farmers. She began her Postulancy with the Sisters of Notre Dame in Passo Fundo on February 21, 1963, and entered the Novitiate on February 11, 1964, receiving the religious name Sister Maria Elenara. She later returned to her baptismal name, Zelinda.
After receiving a degree in pedagogy with a specialization in school supervision, Sister ministered in the field of education. She cared particularly about students facing significant learning challenges while serving as a teacher, principal, vice-principal, program coordinator, and school supervisor in our Notre Dame Schools and public schools in various locations.
Upon retiring from formal education, Sister Maria Zelinda intensified her commitment to catechesis and parish ministry, which she cherished and devoted herself as long as her health permitted. Sister was also active in youth gatherings and, as a vocation animator, accompanied candidates for religious life to vocational programs.
Sister Maria Zelinda was always aware of global and Congregational realities. She eagerly shared her opinions and took part in an assortment of programs. Sister nurtured her spiritual life through personal and communal prayer and enthusiastically joined in community life.
In 2022, Sister suffered a brain aneurysm, which required specialized care. She joined the community of Casa Betânia in Não Me Toque, where she busied herself with a series of occupational activities. In December 2023, Sister suffered an ischemic stroke, which confined her to bed and made communication a challenge. However, when a sister prayed with her, she showed signs of understanding and mouthed the prayers.
On March 11th, Sister received the Anointing of the Sick and peacefully journeyed to the Father’s House, where pain and tears were replaced by eternal joy. Das Evangelium vom 11. März handelte von einem königlichen Beamten, der wegen seines kranken Sohnes mit einer Bitte zu Jesus kam. Der Beamte glaubte den Worten Jesu “Geh, dein Sohn lebt.” Auch Schwester Maria Zelinda glaubte den Worten Jesu “Komm und folge mir nach” und widmete ihr Leben der Ausbreitung des Reiches Gottes.
Zelinda war das vierte der neun Kinder der Eheleute Achiles Girelli und Maria Riboldi, die eine Landwirtschaft betrieben. Am 21. Februar 1963 begann sie ihr Postulat bei den Schwestern Unserer Lieben Frau in Passo Fundo. Ihr Noviziat begann am 11. Februar 1964 und sie erhielt den Ordensnamen Schwester Maria Elenara. Später kehrte sie zu ihrem Taufnamen Zelinda zurück.
Nach ihrem Abschluss in Pädagogik mit Spezialisierung in Schulaufsicht arbeitete Schwester im Bildungswesen. Als Lehrerin, Schulleiterin, stellvertretende Schulleiterin, Programmkoordinatorin oder Schulaufsichtsbeamtin in unseren Liebfrauenschulen und an verschiedenen öffentlichen Schulen konzentrierte sie sich hauptsächlich auf Schüler mit gravierenden Lernbehinderungen.
Nach ihrem Ausscheiden aus dem formalen Bildungswesen war Schwester Maria Zelinda in der Katechese und in der Pfarre tätig. Sie liebte diese Arbeit und setzte sich ein so lange es ihre Gesundheit erlaubte. Schwester war auch in der Jugendarbeit engagiert; als Beauftragte für Berufungen begleitete sie interessierte Jugendliche zu Programmen über Berufungsfindung.
Schwester Maria Zelinda war sich immer der Realitäten in der Welt und in der Kongregation bewusst. Sie teilte ihre Meinung mit und beteiligte sich an der Auswahl der Programme. Schwester vertiefte ihr geistliches Leben durch das persönliche und gemeinschaftliche Gebet und nahm gerne am Gemeinschaftsleben teil.
2022 erlitt Schwester ein Hirn-Aneurysma, das eine spezielle Behandlung erforderte. Sie kam in die Gemeinschaft der Casa Betânia in Não Me Toque, wo sie sich auf verschiedene Weise betätigte. Im Dezember 2023 erlitt Schwester einen ischämischen Schlaganfall, der sie ans Bett fesselte und eine Kommunikation fast unmöglich machte. Aber wenn eine Schwester mit ihr betete, gab sie Zeichen des Verstehens und bewegte den Mund zum Gebet.
Am 11. März empfing Schwester die Krankensalbung und kehrte friedlich heim zum Vater, wo Schmerz und Tränen von ewiger Freude abgelöst werden. O Evangelho do dia 11 de março relatava a súplica que um funcionário do rei fez a Jesus pelo seu filho doente. E, ele acreditou na palavra de Jesus que disse: “Podes ir, o teu filho está vivo”. Irmã Maria Zelinda também creu na palavra de Jesus: “Vem e segue-me”. Ela acreditou e anunciou o Reino de Deus a muitos.
Zelinda foi a quarta entre os nove filhos de Achiles Girelli e Maria Riboldi, agricultores. Iniciou o Postulantado na Congregação das Irmãs de Notre Dame, em Passo Fundo, RS, em 21 de fevereiro de 1963 e ingressou no Noviciado em 11 de fevereiro de 1964, quando recebeu o nome religioso de Irmã Maria Elenara. Mais tarde, voltou ao seu nome de batismo, Zelinda.
Licenciada em Pedagogia, com habilitação em Supervisão Escolar, exerceu seu apostolado educacional tanto em escolas da Rede de Educação Notre Dame quanto na Rede Estadual de Ensino, sempre dispensando atenção especial aos estudantes com maior dificuldade de aprendizagem. Além de professora, desempenhou as funções de diretora, vice-diretora, coordenadora e supervisora escolar em várias localidades.
Quando se aposentou da educação formal, intensificou seu engajamento na catequese e pastoral paroquial, missão que amava e à qual se dedicou até quando sua saúde o permitiu. Acompanhava encontros de jovens e, como animadora vocacional, também acompanhava as candidatas à vida religiosa aos encontros vocacionais.
Irmã Maria Zelinda procurava estar atualizada com as realidades do mundo e da Congregação, pronta a emitir uma opinião e disposta a participar de programas diversificados. Cultivava sua vida espiritual através da oração pessoal e comunitária, e participava ativamente da vida da comunidade.
Em 2022, sofreu um aneurisma cerebral, necessitando de maiores cuidados. Passou, então, a integrar a Comunidade da Casa Betânia, em Não Me Toque, e participava das atividades e oficinas ocupacionais. Em dezembro de 2023, foi vítima de um Acidente Vascular Cerebral Isquêmico, o que a deixou acamada e com dificuldade de se comunicar. No entanto, quando uma irmã rezava com ela, dava sinais de estar compreendendo e balbuciava junto as orações.
Dia 11 de março, recebeu a Unção dos Enfermos e, confortada, partiu serenamente para a Casa do Pai, onde não haverá mais dor, nem lágrimas, mas alegria plena. 젤린다는 모두 농부였던 아킬리스 지렐리와 미랑 리볼디에게서 태어난 아홉 명의 자녀 중 네째였다. 1963년 2월 21일에 파소 푼도의 노틀담 수녀회에서 청원기를 시작했으며 1964년 2월 11일에 수련소에 입소하여 마리아 엘레나라 수녀라는 수도명을 받았다. 나중에 자신의 세례명인 젤린다로 돌아갔다.
학교 감찰에 중점을 둔 교육학 학위를 취득한 다음, 교육 분야에서 사도직을 했다. 다양한 지역의 노틀담 학교들과 국립 학교에서 교사, 교장, 교감, 프로그램 코디네이터, 학교 감찰관 로서 일하는 동안에는 특히 심각한 학습 부진을 겪는 학생들을 보살펴 주었다.
젤린다 수녀는 정식 교육에서 은퇴하자마자 교리와 본당 사도직에서의 투신을 강화했는데 건강이 허락할 때까지 이 일을 소중히 여기며 이에 헌신했다. 또한 수녀는 청년 모임에 적극적이었고 성소 활성가로서 수도 생활 지원자들을 동반하여 성소 프로그램으로 이끌었다.
마리아 젤린다 수녀는 언제나 세계적, 수녀회적 현실을 인식했다. 갖가지 프로그램에 참여하며 자신의 의견을 열정적으로 나누곤 했다. 개인, 공동 기도를 통해 영성 생활에 양분을 주고 열심히 공동체 생활에 참여했다.
2022년, 뇌동맥류을 앓아 전문적 보살핌이 필요했다. 나오 메 토퀘의 카사 베타니아 공동체로 이전하여 일련의 직업 활동에 몰두했다. 2023년 12월, 뇌허혈을 겪고 침상에 머물러야 했으며 소통이 어려워졌다. 그래도 다른 수녀가 함께 기도할 때는 이해의 표현을 보였으며 입으로 따라 기도하곤 했다.

Zelinda adalah anak keempat dari sembilan bersaudara, lahir dari pasangan Achiles Girelli dan Maria Riboldi, keduanya adalah petani. Dia memulai masa postulannya dengan para Suster Notre Dame di Passo Fundo pada tanggal 21 Februari 1963, dan masuk Novisiat pada tanggal 11 Februari 1964, menerima nama religius Suster Maria Elenara. Dia kemudian kembali ke nama baptisnya, Zelinda.
Setelah menerima gelar sarjana pedagogi dengan keahlian khusus dalam pengawasan sekolah, Suster berkarya di bidang pendidikan.
