On March 31, 2020, we received an invitation from Father Johannes Arntz, the Dean of St. Lamberti Parish in Coesfeld. Every day at noon there is a prayer service in front of the crucifx in St. Lamberti Church which is live streamed. Fr. Arntz is calling all to open themselves to the power of the Coesfeld crucifix, the power of the compassionate Christ. He extended a special invitation to all the Sisters of Notre Dame to be a part of the world wide web of prayer. You can watch the live stream at https://www.webstream.eu/gottesdienststlambertikirchecoesfeld
The prayer service is about 15 minutes long and includes music, a reading, reflection, intercessions and the prayer of the Our Father. Everyone is invited to send intercessions to kreuzgebet@lamberti-coesfeld.de
Intercessions in English are also welcome. After the live stream, the video remains available for one day.
In another initiative Christian churches are inviting to a time of prayer every evening, which St. Lamberti Parish is joining. At 7:30 pm, church bells are ringing, and people are placing lit candles in their windows and praying the Our Father. This is to express gratitude, intercession, and hope: Gratitude for all who are working for others during these challenging times, intercession for the strength we need to overcome the obstacles the corona virus places in front of us, and hope for a light at the end of the tunnel. The photo shows the candle at the motherhouse in Rome. If you wish you can send us a photo of the prayer candle in your community and we will publish it on this website. Please send your photo directly to sndwebmaster@snd1.org, indicating the location of your community.
