On the celebration of the birthday of our Blessed Mother, September 08, 2016, the Province of Our Lady of Good Counsel held a celebration to express our gratitude for the golden jubilee of Sr. Maria Anzelm, the ruby jubilee of Sr. Maria Martha, the silver jubilee of Sr. Maria Hironima and the final vows of Sr. Maria Sesilio.

The Thanksgiving Mass was presided by Mgr Julianus Sunarko, SJ, who on that day also commemorated the 16th anniversary of his ordination as the Bishop of Purwokerto. The Mass was concelebrated by six priests. There were also present at this Holy Mass the families of the jubilarians, their friends, our SND associates and of course, our sisters from the communities who could attend the celebration.

In his homily the Bishop told us many jokes which made the people laugh. And one thing he emphasized was the life motto of St. Julie Billiart, “How good is the good God!” He encouraged the Sisters to live out the motto of our spiritual mother. He was very impressed with this motto, even when he was very ill and hospitalized, he remembered what St. Julie always said in all circumstances.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, the people were given time to congratulate the Sisters. While they enjoyed the dinner, there were some programs presented to add to the festivity of the day.

As a community we had a special prayer service of thanksgiving at 6.00 p.m. Once again we were grateful to God for the manifold graces which He had bestowed upon the Jubilarians and the newly professed. After supper the festivity continued with spontaneous activities: singing and dancing. The Jubilarians would not miss the opportunity to express their gratitude by singing a thanksgiving song. The event closed with messages of gratitude from Sr. Maria Robertin, SND, our provincial, to all the sisters who had prepared this event nicely.
