A reason to celebrate!
11 August, 2016, Vechta, Germany
It was for the first time that we, the sisters at Vechta-Marienhain, celebrated a 100th birthday.
The employees at the infirmary lovingly decorated the door of Sister’s room.
At 8.30 a.m. all the sisters and the employees at the infirmary gathered for the congratulation. Sr. M. Anselma beamed with joy.
Of course, the apple tree was not to be forgotten. Since Sr. M. Anselma had been a nurse, the importance of an apple for your health was of course also referred to and at the end everybody received an apple.
One of the geriatric nurses had painted a picture showing Haus Meeresstern and Sr. M. Anselma on a bicycle, just the way she used to ride on the island.
In the first row: Sr.M.Henriette, Sr M.Anselma, Sr.M.Anneliese
At 10.00 a.m. the deputy District Administrator, the mayor and Propst Matschke came to offer their congratulations.

The first guests from Wangerooge arrived to make a film. The doctor of the island and his wife came as surprise guests (below).
Sr. M. Christa and Sr. Bernhardine Maria welcomed the other islanders.
The thanksgiving service at 2.30 p.m. in our Holy Spirit church was the highlight of the day. Kurt Weigel, who had served as a priest on Wangerooge for many years, had come especially from Rüdesheim to lead the service. A great number of relatives had arrived to the delight of Sr. M. Anselma.
The festive coffee table
The relatives had taken time for the day and so there was enough time for a group photo.
Everybody was happy and content at the end of this wonderful day.
