PROJECT “ São Sepé HOUSE WITHOUT cracks – the SILVER HOUSE”
COLLEGIO MOTHER JULIA, São Sepé, Canoas, Brazil
The Collegio Mother Julia took the project “Brazil without cracks, the Silver House” and adapted it to the local reality and called it “São Sepé without cracks, the Silver House.”
The project’s goal is to help poor people protect themselves during the winter by having the outside walls of their homes without cracks, thus preventing the penetration of cold and rain and providing for a better quality of life .
Teachers Susan Freitas Kelling Scherer and Paula Jane Pires Vaz took on the project with the students of the 4th and 5th grades of the elementary school. The children recycled silver-lined milk cartons, connecting the milk cartons for a lining, initially for a house of the Christ the King neighborhood, because most families at this site live in socially vulnerable conditions.
