We (Sister Maria Ja-Hun from Incheon Province and Sister Maria Lidwina from Jakarta Province) begin each day with morning prayers and then participate in fun and exciting classes. Our English teacher, Sister Eileen Marie Quinlan, has an extraordinary talent for making learning English fun. Every mealtime is a time to review our English studies: the sisters sitting around the table always ask us what we learned and we recall the content of the day’s class. We appreciate the sense of mission and love that the sisters have had as teachers their entire lives. After supper, we enjoy playing card games. It is a time to laugh happily and speak English more informally.

We visit the health care center once a week to talk with the sisters there. We have also visited various places where we experience American culture, such as the zoo and the art museum. We attended the 150th-anniversary Mass of the sisters coming to the United States, and we joined with the Cleveland Diocesan Asian Community as they celebrated Mass. The pilgrimage to the SND historical sites in Cleveland was a time to reflect on the missionary spirit of our first sisters and our living senior sisters.

Also, while meeting the sisters in Toledo and Covington and visiting their places of ministry, we were deeply impressed by the way all the sisters happily lived in their affiliations serving our one mission.
