It was such a joyous day in the Holy Spirit General Delegation, East Africa, as 19 young women took another step in religious life as postulants in the Sisters of Notre Dame.
On May 30, 2024, these candidates, together with their formators from different parts of East Africa, arrived at the postulant house in Mpala Community in Uganda. Sister Scholastica Marie together with four candidates from St. Julie Formation House in Uganda, Sisters Mary Noela and Mary Margaret with thirteen candidates from Arusha and Nairobi, and the two candidates from Mozambique who had arrived two days earlier, were welcomed by the Sisters in the Mpala community.
The candidates spent two days of preparation reflecting on the theme: “COME TO THE SPRING OF THE LIVING WATER”.
On the evening of June 2, 2024, the 19 candidates entered the Postulancy. Sister Violet Marie, the Postulant Director, led the prayer service in which the candidates were received into postulancy by Sister Mary Margaret, the Assistant Delegation Superior.
This was followed by a delicious meal and an entertaining program from the candidates. Their joy and gratitude to God and to their formators were expressed in both song and dance.
The professed Sisters shared encouraging words with the candidates during their reflections. It was a blessing to have Sister Mary Dean from the USA present for this function. She, too, offered words of wisdom and encouragement to the candidates.
