Table community for all, Coesfeld, Germany

Recently the pilgrim sisters from India visited the sisters at Emmaus House for prayer and refreshments. The picture from Sieger Köder and commentary describing the picture comprised the opening prayer for the Sisters’ gathering.  The opening commentary remarks began with the theme “Community around the table for all:  Will it ever be possible?” After the description of those seated around the table, the author left the reader with this thought: “When we bring our gifts, a breeze of this multiplication of loaves can be felt among us.”

The Emmaus community and the pilgrims from India shared bread, grapes, and wine. A lively exchange among the Sisters included a dance and song shared by the sisters from India. Community around this multicultural table felt like this multiplication of joy as depicted in Sieger Köder’s picture. The evening concluded with a Hindi hymn to Our Lady sung in chapel.
