Sisters arrived in 1934

Established as a Province in 1961

Since the first five Sisters of Notre Dame arrived in Indonesia from the Netherlands in 1934, the community has grown to include places of ministry in Pekalongan, Banjarmasin-Kalimantan, Denggung, Jakarta, Kupang, Lasem, Mejasem, Purbalingga, Rembang, Ruteng-Flores, Sukorejo and Tawangmangu. The first ministry of the sisters was a hospital for the poor. In 1935 they opened a school where they could teach children of various backgrounds including Chinese, Javanese and Muslims. In 2000, sisters from Indonesia began ministry in the Philippines.

The Province celebrates April 26th, the Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel, as its Patronal Feast.
