Our Lady of Aparecida Province, Canoas, Brazil, has a mission in Peruvian lands since August 30, 2011. The great dream is made real in the field of the Children´s Pastoral that, at the end of 2013, serves 24 communities, 456 families, 531 children and 29 pregnant women in the Archdiocese of Trujillo and the Diocese of Chiclayo. Sisters Maria Loreni Kauer and Mirian Terezinha Garcia have taken on the coordination of this work in the Archdiocese. They empower leaders and encourage new communities, accompany and animate them through visits, educational materials, training and spirituality. This is a challenging task to accomplish because of a lack of volunteers. Volunteers and poor families are used to receiving donations from charitable entities, and so they have no enthusiasm to participate in celebrative gatherings and in the promotion of children.

The Congregation took charge of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Archdiocese of Trujillo and has been accompanying the Group “Youth Without Borders” since the beginning of 2013, freeing Sister Roselaine. There are monthly visits to 75 parishes and 47 schools to create awareness and raise funds for the Mission Ad Gentes. The 30 university students of “Youth Without Borders” gather weekly and receive support and advice from Sister Roselaine. This group conducts activities with young people who are distant from the Church, the elderly, and children in need.

In Salaverry, we seek to accompany and support La Inmaculada Parish, the Chapels of “Perpétuo Socorro” and “Virgen de Salaverry.” We prepare and help with the Eucharistic Liturgies. Sister Maria Sharon, our novice, prepared 8 children for First Communion. This was her first experience in this ministry. She proved to be a teacher who is not only concerned about knowledge but encouraging the children to participate in the Mass and in the practice of charity. The Catechesis for Confirmation was offered by Sister Maria Roselaine who prepared 3 young people at the Chapel “Virgen de Salaverry.”In Salaverry, we seek to accompany and support La Inmaculada Parish, the Chapels of “Perpétuo Socorro” and “Virgen de Salaverry.” We prepare and help with the Eucharistic Liturgies. It is a great joy for us that Sister Maria Sharon, will soon continue her formation in Brazil. We are hoping that St. Julie will inspire more Peruvian vocations for our Congregation.
