The Sisters of the Incheon Province gathered within their own communities to celebrate a Marian Symposium under the theme “Mary is our Model.”  Each community could choose either Oct. 24 or 26 as their gathering day.

This Symposium was in response to the proposal of the 2016 Provincial Chapter to deepen our Marian spirit as Sisters who have Mary as our patroness. This was the second Marian event in 32 years; the first being held from Jan. 4 to 6 in 1988 with the theme, “Hope to this generation with Mary.” This event, originally planned for May 30, was delayed until Oct. 24 due to Covid 19 and was held in each community at the same hour since the Pandemic situation was not improving.

In preparation for the symposium, last year different groups with Marian titles assembled together to share their experiences and express their love for Our Lady during a meditation session on her life through drawings, poems, songs and dramas. In particular, Sisters’ paintings related to Mary were made into a 2021 yearly calendar which will be presented not only to our members, but also to our families, benefactors and friends. Sr. Mary Kristin’s congratulatory message, Sr. Marie Julia’s opening address, the key note address of the guest priest, as well as two sisters’ inputs on Mary and five sisters’ Marian experiences in the form of a video and booklet, were distributed to each community. A Biblical drama that could be performed was also included in the booklet.

Through this event, we as women of Notre Dame who are on the journey of religious life in the spirit of Mary, experienced moments of grace filled with joy and gratitude for each other.
